IAS Prelims Subjects for General Studies Paper-II (CSAT)

The general studies paper-II, also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT), is qualifying only and the marks secured in this paper is not considered for the prelims result. The topics mentioned in the official syllabus are as follows:

IAS Subjects for Main Exam

IAS main as the name suggest is the main exam where the marks scored by the candidates are considered for the final result. The IAS syllabus for the main exam is explained in the official IAS notification. The IAS main exam is a descriptive type (conventional) paper-based exam in which the candidates need to write long answers to the questions. How To Become An IAS Officer : Step By Step Guide

How to become an IAS Officer is a question to many UPSC aspirants? Especially for the students studying in 10th and 12th standard. Are you an aspiring candidate who wants to join Indian administrative services?

To become an IAS officer the candidate needs to crack the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). After passing the UPSC-CSE exam only an aspiring candidate can become an IAS officer.

IAS Eligibility Criteria – Age Limit

  • The minimum age criteria to appear for the UPSC CSE exam are at least 21 years of age.
  • The maximum age limit where a candidate can become an IAS officer for the general the category is 32 years,
  •  And the maximum limit for the OBC category is 35 years
  • Also, for of SC/ST category is 37 years.

IAS Educational Qualification

  • To become an IAS officer and crack the UPSC CSE exam a candidate should hold a graduation degree from any recognized University. Even a candidate appearing for the final year of graduation can appear for this examination.
  • Candidates who have taken correspondence education are also eligible for this examination.
  • Digits with a technical degree are also eligible.
  • Even professionals can apply for this particular examination.
  • A medical student is also eligible to apply for this examination. But only if he has completed the degree and undergoing an internship program.
  • A candidate who has passed CA, ICWA, and ICSI are also eligible to apply for the post.

IAS Number Of Attempts

  • For the general category, the candidate is limited to 6 attempts.
  • And for that off OBC, the candidate has a limit of 9 attempts.
  • An SC/ST candidate has no limit till 37 years of age.

How Much IAS Salary

The basic per month salary of an IAS officer starts at Rs.56,100 (TA, DA, and HRA are extra) and can go on to reach Rs. 2,50,000 for a Cabinet Secretary.
